Description: This spell has two modes of operation: Targeting a single outsider or summoning a planar ally. Targeted outsiders are paralyzed for 1 round per 2 caster levels. The type of summoned ally is based on the caster's alignment. The creatures summoned by the Planar Binding line of spells scale up in power as the caster gains levels and conjuration foci, varying slightly in power from casting to casting. At level 40 and beyond, the Planar Binding line of spells summons a variety of powerful outsiders of a type dependent on the characters alignment. The power of the creatures depends on caster level, spell level (5-8), conjuration foci and random chance. More powerful creatures are summoned as these factors increase, and they continue to scale in response to those factors.

Notes

Currently the summons created if you are of Evil alignment are significantly more powerful than those for Neutral or Good casters with the Pit Fiend, Malebranche, Balor, Marilith and Alkilith being very robust and doing decent damage if you buff their weapons. Protective buffs are of limited use as none of the summons resist breach or mord. Whilst they do not have instakill attacks the Marilith breaches on hit when buffed (and it gets a lot of attacks!) and the Alkilith inflicts acid vulnerability on hit, the Alkilith does not have automatic Haste (unlike the majority of summons) so keeping a few stacks of Haste potions can increase its attacks and movement speed.
All of these summons can be dismissed by certain creatures (including Cornugons & Glabrezeu) so it is advisable to kill these ASAP if you want to keep your summons alive.
