Introduction

"Ship...attacked. Scaly beasties swarming it...breaking wood...swam to the shore Back...that way..."

Requirements

Water breathing all the time.

Immunities:

  • Mord immunity if you want to keep your spells. Freedom of Movement against entanglement from archers. Lesser mind immunity against grapple. Crit immune for devastating critical.
  • Daze Locathah Artillerist ranged ability. (Mind Blank does NOT protect. Drinking A potion of Clarity removes Daze.)
  • Implosion Scalecaster.

Elements:

General Notes

  • No backspawns. Some spawns are random; sometimes they fire, sometimes not.
  • Locathah Depths are a free rest zone, Immortal characters will not fugue or limbo in Locathah Depths.
  • One of the chests at the end of the run (only lootable once you have killed the Matriarch) contains a Epode book which grants the legendary form focus I-III feats for the form indicated by the book title assuming your character already has the prerequisite form focus feats.

Spawn Structure

Spawns are not dynamic in that the numbers and types of creatures do not scale with player group size, paragon type creatures do not spawn in this area, however the mix of creatures present in spawns will vary on a per server reset basis.

Inflictions:

  • Physical from Dread Jelly.
  • Acid from Venomous Lobster.

Areas

Locathah can be entered through a transition in the northeast of the Boat Ramp area, reachable by following the west road through The Wilderness. Beware of thieving pixies in The Wilderness, use Invisibility, Greater Sanctuary or a preemptive strike to avoid being pick pocketed.

Shoreline Reef

Nothing important in this area. In the spawn can be feys, they can dominate for a short time without any saving throw.

Transition: You may not continue if monsters are about or after despawning monsters.

Sulfurous Current

Sulfurous Lobster and Trench Devourer are healed by fire. Sulfurous Lobster do a lot of fire kickback if are hit with fire. Sometimes Locathah Scalecaster spawn, they cast Implosion and other nasty spells.

In the middle, a mini boss can spawn, "Aspect of Panzuriel", that drops a Spiny Fish or a Babbling Fish. There is a huge mini boss at the end that is a Trench Devourer, "Sh'klss, the Sulfurous Maw" (Tumble check DC: 105 vs knockdown). At the end a set Mote can be found.

Transition: You may not continue if monsters are about or after despawning monsters.

Kelp Farm

The Schoolmaster drops a Spiral Seal. He can DevCrit with AB = 113 and Fort check DC 74, send the crit immune characters in to tank him or grab with Bigby's and kill from distance.

Sunken Fane of Eadro

To enter, you need the Spiral Seal. Inside, turn right.

  • At the end is another mini boss "Singer of Eadro" that drops a second Spiral Seal for the door near entrance. He uses Implosion.

Behind the left side waits the Matriarch in a large hall.

  • She re-summons any Locathah from her spawn that were killed. Unless the party has high killing power, it is best to disable her minions through petrification or Bigby 7/9 rather than killing them.
  • Non-Locathah mobs, such as Whirlpools, Spiritual Currents etc., are not resummoned and should be killed right away.
  • She is immune to direct spells of level 7 and below (although can be damaged by some persistent AoE spells) and has two heals which can be blocked with a well timed DoM.

Strategy and Tactics

Death spells can remove most of the mobs in this area, Circle of Death, Finger of Death and Wail of the banshee being very effective, bring a PM they'll have a great time! The Sulfurous Current area has lots of mini volcanoes which give fire and acid damage if you stand too close to them this can cause problems if you're not equipped with appropriate gear.
