Scrolls for Sorcerers

See the NWN wiki for basics of scribing scrolls: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Scribe_scroll

Many spells can be scribed to a scroll. Sorcerers can cast arcane spell scrolls and a few non-arcane scrolls. Given the limitations on the number of spells a Sorcerer can learn, many players opt to carry some of their spells in scroll form and free up space in their spell book.

A few facts about using Scrolls:

  • HG Enhanced only type spells cannot generally be scribed to a scroll.
  • Scrolls are scribed at their innate level and a fixed caster level. This can make a spell cast from a scroll considerably weaker/shorter than when it is directly cast.
  • Some spells don't depend much on caster level or innate level. These can be good choices for carrying in scroll form.

Spell Scroll List

Spell Purchasable in Town What its useful for.
Black Blade of Disaster No Summons an indestructible fighting sword. The only way to get rid of it is to cause it to be unsummoned. Most enemies aren't smart enough to do that, so they just try to fight it leaving you out of harms way. This can be invaluable for some boss fights and also for solo or small groups. If you don't use it often it can be cast to good effect from a scroll.
Mordenkainen's disjunction No Strips enemies spell protections, reduces enemies SR both without a save or SR. It also attempts to dispel magical effects. This comes in very handy and can be used effectively as a scroll.
Summon Creature I-IX Yes ( I-VII ), No ( VIII and IX ) These make effective tanks at low levels and can still be useful later. The duration and caster level are based on the level the spell can be learned. So a Summon Creature VIII is cast at level 15. They may be a lot weaker than the spell you could cast yourself.
