- Pros
- Should be capable of some amazing damage (Dev Crit + Super Crit + Keen)
- High listen
- High AB
- Not dependent on Farseer gear.
- Cons
- Low AC (Not a tank)
- No innate conceal (but has maxed hide for mass camo conceal)
- Low discipline (If you value your armor, stay away from slaggers/rusters)
- Low parry (Stay out of combat...in particular, keep clear of things that crit hard and/or dev-crit)
- Notes on gear
- Not having gotten this to 60 myself, I can't comment overmuch on what gear you'll want, but I'd guess you'll want a Visor of Vigilance as your helm, for the ESF Listen, immunity to flatfooting, and the good stats.
- For armor, light armor will best for this toon, since it gets +4 wisdom AC in light armor (and ONLY light armor). I recommend Yeti Hide Armor or Alderson's Corselet as soon as you can get tagged for one of them, followed by the Withered Pall once you hit 50 and get your PoM tag (this gives you a great deal of freedom in other gear, which easily makes up for the lack of a %ele on the armor IMO). Once you hit 60, Wings of the Deva or Nameless Cold would be great on this character. If you don't have a decent version of one of those, stick with the Withered Pall unless you have a Good Reason not to (misc. imms on armor are extremely nice).
- For boots, I would recommend Clockwork Boots unless you have a specific reason not to wear them. The AC loss at 1xD pens will hurt your survivability some, but not really enough to worry about, and that extra attack per round will increase your damage output tremendously. Heck, if you can afford to do so, keep multiple pairs on hand and swap them out (and use the new pair) when you die to refresh the attack. :)
- For your artifact, I recommend the INT arty, for confusion immunity (like I do for most non-casters). This toon can easily deal 500-1000 damage per round, which is enough to take out most tanks very quickly, especially if you're using an exotic bow (many squishies won't even last for a single round against the kind of damage you can deal). A word of warning: The confusion immunity from the INT arty is not 100% effective in all cases. In certain very rare instances (usually getting up from being dead) it can fail. If confusion immunity is critical in the area you're in (abos), make sure your party knows you use the arti, so they can take appropriate precautions.
- For other equipment....Unless AA 31/51 grants an extra tier of damage, I wouldn't recommend Farseer equipment (use it as tradebait if it's on a good enough item, or if you have one already take another ranger level at 40 for a better skilldump - drop one point in Concentration to get 43 Discipline/Parry, and drop LSF Listen and get more Listen gear). Other than that, just fill your misc. immunities, resists, and %imms with the other equipment.
