The Ruins of the Arcane Academy

The Academy is populated with Maze Guardians, Undead Arcanists, Balors (as per the Balors on the Immortal run) and the Headmaster himself (pre-LL accomplishment no level requirement (see Accomplishments)).
Sunburst can be very effective to remove the guardians and undead here, try to avoid killing the Balors close to the Headmaster as the ondeath kickback damage can cause the tag to fail.
Note: Do not use Loot Breaking spells near the epic spell stones

Use Cone of Cold (5) on the entrance to the arcane academy. Once in the area, there will be gates blocking the bridge. To open these, cast the spells on the door in this order. Gust of Wind (3), Chain Lightning (6), Ice Storm (4), Mestil's Acid Breath (3), Bigby's Forceful Hand (6) All spells can be cast from scrolls or items and do not have to be from memory. Sonic damage is very effective against the Headmaster himself and Cold is best against the Balors although they are surprisingly resistant to most damage types even when cast by high level characters The Headmaster drops: Book of Races Thri-Kreen, Spell Focus Tome Spell Penetration, Spell Focus Tome Evocation, Spell Focus Tome Conjuration and two random rare items |
